“Related to O. retrovertens Tomlin which was described from Bukit Chintamani, but very distinct; it is much smaller and more finely scultured; the retroverted whorl only reaches about half-way up the spire, and the whole shell is cylindrical whereas O. retrovertens is conoidal.” (Tomlin, 1948)
“The shells are somewhat more cylindrical than the figure might suggest. They have no spiral sculpture. Otherwise I have nothing to add to the description. No new material has been collected.” (Benthem-Jutting, 1952)
Tomlin (1948) original descriptions on Opisthostoma kakiense – “Shell short, cylindrical, rimate; whorls 5½, reddish, the two last whorls being pale, the upper ones a much more definite red; suture fairly deep; apex of shell noticeably flattened, with a smooth shining protoconch of 1½ whorls; aperture circular with a peristome considerably thickened and moderately flanged; shell smooth with very fine, regularly spaced riblets, of which there are about two dozen on the penultimate whorl; distal end of the body whorl turned sharply back and adnate to the penultimate whorl.”
“In O. michaelis v. B. Jutting, O. kakiense Tomlin and O. senex v. B. Jutting the spiral sculpture is definitely absent.” (Benthem-Jutting, 1961)
Opisthostoma kakiense – “Dimensions – Long. 2 mm; breadth 2 mm, measured to include the distal end of the penultimate whorl.” (Tomlin, 1948)
